On February 21, NOVA Mat & Möten in collaboration with Albert Kök Hotell & Konferens and the town of Trollhättan will host the European Oyster Opening Championship 2015.

24 contestants from 13 European countries compete about becoming the best in Europe. Reigning champion Michael Morgan from Ireland will come to NOVA in Trollhättan to defend his title.

It is the intention of the European Championship to gather the best of the best of European oyster openers in a prestigious competition, and select the best oyster opener in Europe. To achieve this, the winner and runner-up in each country’s national competition will come to the European Championship in Trollhättan, Sweden.

For those countries that do not have any national trials, previously documented results will be a qualifying factor. The contestants representing their country at the World Championship in Galway are also qualified. The organizers have decided to issue “wild cards” to contestants who do not meet the above criteria.
