University West was pleased to be the organizer for the national counselor conference 2015. The conference took place in Trollhättan on May 19 to 21 2015 and was directed toward all counselors at colleges and universities in Sweden.
The conference focused on how we meet students of today. Among other things, we listened to Kristina Johansson, PhD in Education at University West, who is conducting research on the “ millennium generation”, students who were born between 1980 and 2000.
We also met with Patricia Staaf, director of AKL, Center for Academic Teaching, at Malmö University. She has long experience of working with widening recruitment and has an interest in how we approach this group of students and take advantage of their differences.
